Annual Giving Officer

 

Overview:

The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for the establishment, development, and execution of an Annual Fund for KGI, and will also be responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of individual donors.

As part of the KGI Advancement department, the AGO is an integral member of the KGI frontline fundraising team. The incumbent focuses on targeted fundraising and engagement efforts and on building an Annual Fund. The AGO spends 50% of her/his time building and working with a portfolio of prospects who are capable of making annual gifts of over $1,000. The AGO will spend the remainder of his/her time establishing and executing an Annual Fund and working with Advancement staff to identify, qualify, and cultivate donors. Reporting to the Senior Director of Institutional Development, the AGO will also help to solicit and steward major gift donors. The AGO also works closely with all members of the advancement team on strategic initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

FUNDRAISING

  • Develop and execute a dynamic and detailed strategic plan for the Annual Giving program, setting goals based on historical analysis of donor and prospect base and school needs.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of 30-50 donor prospects.
  • Develop strategies for the successful solicitation of gift prospects in alignment with the goals of the advancement office.
  • Adhere to metrics for monthly donor visits, solicitations and gift closure.
  • Work to identify and qualify potential prospects for major gifts.
  • Achieve fundraising goals
  • Create targeted, segmented solicitations for specific donors.
  • Establish and manage peer-to-peer solicitations segmented by targeted constituency and fundraising strategy.
  • Monitor program results and provide ongoing analysis and evaluation to meet goals.
  • Recommend and implement changes in strategy to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to prepare all Annual Giving collateral, letters, and solicitation materials.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create print, electronic, and social media outreach strategies and branding for Annual Giving.
  • Work with Stewardship Coordinator to create stewardship plans for annual donors across constituencies

ADMINISTRATIVE & OTHER

  • Submit reports to leadership on the progress of programs.
  • Regularly communicate with constituents via newsletter, social media, in-person meetings, phone and email contacts.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all donor contacts within the database of record
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships and ensure appropriate communication strategies with internal and external partners in Corporate Partnerships, Career Services, Marketing, academic administration, and others.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, the Humanities, Business or related field is preferred and a minimum of 2-3 years of demonstrated success in alumni engagement, fundraising, volunteer management and/or corporate relations.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and relationship management abilities
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability of their work
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and close charitable gifts
  • Understanding of annual giving programs and practices
  • Proven leadership skills particularly in starting new initiatives, launching successful direct marketing/outreach programs, and organizing affiliation groups
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators, boards, faculty and cultivate relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to independently prioritize and triage daily tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills  
  • Attention to detail and follow-through
  • Willingness and ability to travel (local, overnight) in order to build and maintain relationships and represents the Institute at various events.
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to balance competing priorities
  • Willingness to manage and improve existing processes and operational procedures
  • Must be deadline-driven, highly organized and detail oriented
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as a member of the Advancement team, and to participate enthusiastically in the life of the Institute.
